Australian Standard AS 1851:2012 sets out the requirements for the routine servicing of fire protection systems and equipment. Section 10 of the Standard requires each fire extinguisher to be inspected (checked) every six months to ensure it is; working, free from damage, no missing parts, pressurised, appropriate for the risk where it is installed and not overdue for a pressure vessel test (due every five-years from the date of manufacture).
